The rise of eSports has led to an influx of high-performance gaming peripherals in the market. As gamers, we now have more choices than ever before when it comes to picking the best one to cover our needs.
With the recent trend being towards RGB lighting and crazy flashy design, we are going to take a look at both Razer and Logitech which are two of the biggest peripheral companies on the planet. Between their flagship products and best sellers, both brands offer a wide range of gaming mice, headsets, keyboards, and webcams.
To be completely transparent with you, I have used peripherals from both brands in the past, and I can safely say that they have equal quality. Therefore, based on research and my own experience, I’ve put together an unbiased review to help you make the best choice when it comes to choosing between Razer and Logitech peripherals. Let’s dive into the details…
What is the main difference between Razer and Logitech peripherals?
The difference between Razer and Logitech peripherals is that Razer is known for its high-quality products which are focused on gaming but are also very expensive. On the other hand, Logitech has a wider variety of options while maintaining better affordability and great performance.
When I say peripherals, I am not talking about just the mouse and keyboard. We’ll analyze all of the peripheral types that both brands offer. Let’s begin with mice!
Razer vs Logitech – Mice
Nowadays, a lot of gamers not only use Razer mice because they’re high quality, but also because they have an exceptional and ergonomic design that makes them fit perfectly into your hand (or at least in my hand), giving you ultimate comfort and control over your mouse movements.
I feel like the shape and weight of these mice are optimized for any type of gamer, whether that’s someone who wants to use the mouse for long periods of time or someone who needs very precise control over their movements.
They also come with at least two side buttons next to your thumb so that you can do things like initiate spells or toggle between weapons with just a flick of your thumb. This is especially helpful if you’re playing games that require multiple keybinds or macros like World of Warcraft! I am not the biggest fan of MMO RPG games so I couldn’t get the most out of these mice.
Furthermore, RGB lighting makes them look awesome when gaming in dark rooms, or even when you just want to show off your mouse! The company offers several types of mice, from simple ones to the most advanced ones. Some of the most popular and iconic models are the DeathAdder Chroma and the Lancehead Tournament Edition. Razer Mice also come with RGB lighting, which makes them look awesome when gaming in dark rooms, or even when you just want to show off your mouse!
Logitech mice are widely used in offices and homes. They have a number of different models to choose from, each with a different set of features. Their design philosophy is completely different from Razer’s, though.
Their mice are quite simple, easy to use, and highly intuitive. They are also designed for people who want a comfortable, reliable, and precise way to interact with their computers. That’s something that both brands have in common. Whether that’s gaming, photo/video editing, or just business work, Logitech has you covered.
Now, when it comes to gaming mice, I feel like Logitech is a pretty good competitor to Razer. They have some models that come with a complex “transformers-like” appearance and RGB lighting. And you know what? I’ll go ahead and say that some of them look even better than their Razer counterparts.
However, would I recommend you to use a Logitech mouse for gaming? Yes, but also no. It’s not that they are bad or something. I just think that if you have to choose between Razer and Logitech mice, you are better off siding with the former since they specifically design mice for gamers. For every other task, you can safely go with Logitech since they are more affordable.
Razer has always been the more expensive brand compared to Logitech. It’s not uncommon for Razer mice to be around $10-$50 more expensive than their counterparts from Logitech. However, this doesn’t mean that all Razer products are expensive and all of Logitech’s are cheap.
The price difference depends on the features offered by each product. For example, if you’re looking for a mouse with RGB lighting and customizable buttons, then you will be paying more money for a Razer product than if you were just looking for something simple like a gaming mouse that only has DPI settings and no extra features like RGB lighting or customizable buttons.
Logitech G HUB and Razer Synapse allow users to customize every aspect of their mouse experience. This means you can change colors and lighting effects, program macros, and even tweak sensitivity settings right from your computer! It’s a great little feature if you want to get more out of your mouse without having to install any 3rd-party software on your computer!
One feature that differentiates Razer and Logitech products is the ability to remove weights from their mice. While Razer mice come standard with weights installed, Logitech ones come with removable weights which can be added or subtracted depending on your preference.
This means that you can make the mouse heavier if you need an extra bit of weight in order to feel comfortable while gaming or you can remove some of the weight if it’s too heavy for your liking. If you’re looking for a lightweight mouse that will allow for super-fast movements, then consider purchasing one without any weight at all!
Razer vs Logitech – Keyboards
The first thing that you’ll notice about Razer and Logitech keyboards is their design. Both brands have created some amazing-looking keyboards over the years. They’re made from high-quality materials like aluminum and plastic, with lots of RGB lighting and other cool features.
Razer is known for its aggressive designs that include sharp angles and lighting effects. For example, the BlackWidow Chroma V3 has a sleek black design with individually lit keys that change color based on what you’re doing or what game mode you’re using.
Logitech’s gaming keyboards tend to be more traditional looking than Razer’s products. We can’t really compare the casual and affordable keyboards since Razer doesn’t have any. That specific variety is the biggest positive of Logitech. In addition, they also offer ergonomic options for people who want to use their keyboard in an office environment as well as at home.
Take the Logitech ERGO K860 as an example. The keyframe is divided and bent to enhance typing posture, and it also has a wrist rest. Its sloping design keeps your hands and shoulders comfortable while reducing muscular tension in your wrists and forearms.
Both Razer and Logitech have several models available in different price ranges: from entry-level models with fewer features to more advanced versions with more features such as RGB lighting or mechanical switches for improved responsiveness.
To be more specific, the RGB part is only true for Logitech as Razer just slams it everywhere. Since their keyboards are made for gamers, they have a lot of extra features that you might not need if you’re just typing at your desk.
Razer keyboards have a wide range of customizable options and lighting effects which will discuss down below. They also have built-in wrist rests, which Logitech doesn’t offer on most of its models. These are possibly some of the reasons why they are so extravagant.
As I previously mentioned, both brands have software that allows you to customize your experience. That applies to all of the peripherals. However, Logitech keyboards don’t have as many options and I would say that overall, Razer does offer better customization.
For instance, one feature that only Razer has is per-key lighting customization. To me, this is kind of strange considering the fact that both software applications were released about the same time period.
Razer vs Logitech – Headsets
Razer’s headsets are well-designed and comfortable. But they’re not quite as good as Logitech’s when it comes to style. From an artistic perspective, I believe that Logitech takes the cake with its flashy colors and eye-catching designs that appeal to gamers who want something that looks cool on their desk while they game.
Razer headsets look sleek and attractive with the black and green accent colors but there is not that much variety in terms of coloring. Most of their products have a lightweight design that fits comfortably on your head without being too bulky or heavy.
It’s worth mentioning that the ear cup padding that both brands use is soft and comfortable to wear over long periods of time without causing any discomfort or pain in your ears after prolonged use.
As always, Logitech also has casual and cheaper headsets that don’t belong in their G series. These look quite simple and yet very elegant. They are made for casual activities like listening to music or doing some computer work. Sadly, Razer doesn’t have such options available.
When it comes to gaming headsets, Razer is actually cheaper than Logitech. Yup, you read that right! Although, that’s when we compare their entry-level gear where the difference is a couple of bucks. While they both provide great sound quality and are both well-known brands, they might not necessarily be within your budget range since their pricing starts at about $40.
If you’re looking for a headset that will allow you to listen to music or watch videos while also occasionally playing a few games, you should consider going with the regular headsets of Logitech which are much more affordable and will offer you significant value for money.
If you simply take a look at the picture above, you’ll notice how many buttons a gaming Logitech headset has. Obviously, not every headset is packed with so many features. It highly depends on the pricing of the product but you can get a headset with customizable buttons if you wish.
Razer’s headsets are not as customizable as Logitech’s but they do offer some customization options of their own. They include retractable mics and volume controls on the side of the headset.
At last, both brands use features such as noise cancellation in their microphones or customized EQ and spatial audio.
Razer vs Logitech – Webcams
Streaming services like Twitch and YouTube have become extremely popular over the past few years. A number of celebrities have even made their way into this field by streaming their gaming sessions out to millions of viewers on platforms like these. Therefore, getting a high-quality webcam is essential for any streamer out there.
Well, it turns out that the popular streaming software called OBS Streamlabs is owned by Logitech. You can guess where I am going with this, can’t you? Let me elaborate further…
I am going to compare the Logitech C920 vs the Razer Kiyo. Both of them are well-designed webcams that can capture high-quality videos. However, they differ in terms of pricing, quality, and design philosophy.
The first thing that you notice when looking at the design of both webcams, is the adjustable built-in ring light that the Razer Kiyo has. However, this light is so small that it looks like you use a flashlight while streaming.
Both webcams are lightweight and portable enough to carry around with you when traveling or attending events where there might not be enough room for a full desktop setup.
The Logitech C920 is a bit more compact than the Kiyo. It has a sleek silver-and-black color scheme that won’t stick out in any room and looks professional but also modern. The Kiyo has a more playful “eye-like” design that some people may find more appealing than the more serious look of its competitor.
The Logitech C920 and the Razer Kiyo both have a wide field of view, which is ideal for streaming and recording videos. The quality of these two webcams is also very different. While both devices offer 1080p 30FPS video recording, the Razer Kiyo can also record at 720p 60FPS. This means that your videos will look smoother on a computer or phone but with a lower resolution. As you can notice in the video above, the Kiyo also has some auto-focus problems when recording under low-light conditions.
On the other hand, the C920 seems like the real winner in terms of raw quality. Whether you are in a well-lit room or in a darker one, the image looks very crisp and the autofocus and auto-exposure are on point. The only negative could be the skin tones as they tend to be a little pink.
At last, the microphone quality of both webcams is decent considering the fact that all webcams have poor ones.
Without a discount, the Logitech C920 is $75.99 on Amazon, while the Razer Kiyo is $99.99 on Amazon. If you didn’t know anything about these webcams, you would assume that the Kiyo is slightly better, right?
Well, it turns out that this couldn’t be further from the truth. You are paying an extra $25 for a tiny ring light that you can’t realistically use and a 60FPS video that’s not even full HD? Wow! Razer has done it again!
The Logitech C920 is a great choice for people who want a high-quality product at an affordable price point. It’s one of the most popular webcams on the market for a reason!
At last, both Razer and Logitech are great peripheral makers, but which one you choose is going to depend heavily on your personal preferences and budget. If you like flashy, futuristic-looking peripherals, then Razer is probably for you; but if you prefer buying value-for-money products, then Logitech proves to be the winner as they pack more features into their products whilst maintaining a very competitive price tag.
Either way, good luck deciding—and whichever side of the Razer vs. Logitech fence you fall down on, we’re sure that whichever option you choose will provide an excellent experience and real value for your money. As always, if you have further questions, let me know in the comments down below.
